A Gut DayA Gut Day
Know what you're eating, before you eat it

Scan the barcode. Read your gut's verdict.

Supermarket lights are bright, food labels are tiny, and ingredient lists hide things like inulin, sorbitol and 'natural flavour'. A Gut Day scans the barcode and shows you everything that matters in one screen.

Reading food labels shouldn't be a science exam

Modern packaged food contains additives, sweeteners and stabilisers that didn't exist 20 years ago. Many of them - inulin, sorbitol, mannitol, carrageenan - are notorious gut irritants. A Gut Day's scanner reads the barcode, looks up the product in Open Food Facts and our trigger database, and tells you in plain language whether it's likely to upset your stomach.

Frequently asked questions

Which products are in the database?
We use Open Food Facts (open source, ~3 million products) plus our own trigger annotations. Coverage is excellent in EU/UK and growing in US.
What if a product isn't found?
You can add it manually - it then becomes available to other users too. Crowd-sourcing makes the database better every day.
Does it know my personal triggers?
Yes. Once you've used the app for a few weeks, your personal triggers (from Insights) are highlighted automatically when you scan.
Does it work offline?
The most-scanned 100,000 products are cached on your device, so the scanner works even in poor signal areas.
